Our collection of fruit trees presently stands at 85 different varieties from 123 trees located in 7 sites around the farm. These include varieties of apple, pear, plum, damson, cherry, apricot, medlar, mulberry, quince, walnut, sweet chestnut, cobnut and hazel nut.
As the orchards develop we hope to run courses about how to care for the trees and propagate new ones through grafting and budding. We want to learn from the past and help to conserve some of the 2000 varieties of apple that are recorded in the UK.
Our apple day is an opportunity for you to learn about the wonder of trees, especially apples, and the culture surrounding them. You will be able to sample a small selection of the great variety of apples in existence.
The farm and woodland can be muddy at this time of year, so please dress appropriately.
